Built for accuracy on real-world speech

Voxtyper's speech-to-text engine was trained on 680,000+ hours of human conversation across 99 languages. The engine learned how real people actually talk: with hesitations, restarts, regional accents, technical jargon, and proper nouns. That training corpus is larger and more diverse than what powers most dictation tools.

  • Conversational speech with pauses, restarts, and natural hesitations.
  • Technical vocabulary across medicine, law, software, and science.
  • Accented English, including regional and non-native speakers.
  • Numbers, dates, currency, and times in their formatted form.
  • Proper nouns for people, places, brands, products, and titles.
  • Moderately noisy environments without quiet-room requirements.

What that looks like in practice:

"twelve fifty p m"
12:50 p.m.
"thirty-five hundred dollars"
$3,500
"world health organization"
World Health Organization

Who Voxtyper is for

If your job involves writing a lot of text and your hands or your patience are running out, Voxtyper is for you.

Writers

Novelists, journalists, bloggers, screenwriters. Voxtyper transcribes the way you actually talk and gives you a draft that already reads like prose. Your voice, your phrasing. Not a paraphrase. Not "enhanced." The words you said.

Lawyers and doctors

Briefs, clinical notes, case notes, intake summaries. Voxtyper handles dense technical language and inserts punctuation so you can dictate at the speed of thought instead of formatting at the speed of typing.

Students

Essays, research papers, lab reports. Talk through your thinking and let Voxtyper turn it into properly formatted text in Google Docs, Word for Web, Notion, or anywhere else your school accepts work.

Accessibility and chronic pain

If typing is painful or impossible, Voxtyper gives you the full web back. One keyboard or mouse press starts dictation. One press finishes. Use a foot pedal, a single mouse button, or any input device that can send a key combination.

Data annotators and remote workers

If your day is high-volume text entry, every minute saved on punctuation cleanup is a minute back. Voxtyper drops finished sentences into your annotation tool, your support ticket queue, or your spreadsheet without breaking flow.

People moving in from voice memos

If you live in your voice memos app and then dread cleaning up the transcripts, Voxtyper inverts the order. You get the punctuated text the moment you stop speaking, in the destination you wanted it.

Everything Voxtyper does

Automatic punctuation

Pauses become commas and periods. Question intonation becomes a question mark. You never say it out loud.

Automatic capitalization

Sentence starts, the pronoun "I", names, places, and most titles are capitalized for you.

Numbers as digits

Times, prices, dates, and counts come out formatted as numerals when context makes them clear, not spelled out as words.

State-of-the-art accuracy

A state-of-the-art speech-to-text engine handles conversational speech, technical vocabulary, and accented speakers without breaking down.

Works in every text field

From Gmail and Google Docs to Notion, Slack, and your CRM. If you can type in it, Voxtyper works.

Customizable shortcut

The default is Ctrl+Space. Rebind to any key combination or mouse button. Designed for one-handed operation.

Audio is never stored

The audio you speak is sent to the transcription service, the text comes back, and the audio is gone. No retention. No training on your voice.

Sub-second response

Median round trip is under one second from when you stop speaking to when the text lands in your text field.

One-handed by design

Toggle recording, not push to talk. Map it to a single button. Dictate full documents without your second hand ever leaving its mug.

Pricing

Both tiers have the same accuracy, the same automatic punctuation, and the same automatic capitalization. The paid tier is just unmetered.

Frequently asked questions

Where does Voxtyper work?

Any text field in your browser. If you can type in it, Voxtyper can dictate into it, from Gmail and Google Docs to Notion, Slack, and ChatGPT. It handles plain text boxes, rich text editors, and even canvas-based editors like Google Docs.

How is Voxtyper different from Google Docs dictation?

Three differences. First, Voxtyper inserts punctuation automatically. Google Docs requires you to say "comma" or "period" out loud. Second, Voxtyper capitalizes properly across sentences, names, and titles. Google Docs is inconsistent past sentence starts. Third, Voxtyper works in every web text field. Google Docs dictation only works in Google Docs and Slides.

How accurate is Voxtyper?

Voxtyper uses a state-of-the-art speech-to-text engine that performs strongly on conversational English, technical vocabulary, and accented speech. It infers the punctuation and capitalization that the built-in dictation in Google Docs and the macOS or Windows system tools leave to you. The free tier and the Unlimited tier use the same engine.

Is my audio stored?

No. Audio is sent to the transcription service, the text comes back, and the audio is discarded. We do not write audio to disk and do not retain it. The transcribed text is also not stored on our servers. It is returned to your browser and inserted into the field you focused. The only things we keep are your monthly quota count and, if you sign in, your email address.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free tier gives you 20 minutes a month without an account, or 60 minutes a month signed in, no credit card required. If you need more than that, there is a plan for unlimited usage.

How much is the paid plan?

Unlimited dictation is $9 per month, billed through Stripe. Cancel anytime from inside the extension. You keep Unlimited access until the end of your billing cycle, then automatically revert to the free tier.

Does Voxtyper rewrite my words like other "AI" tools?

No. Voxtyper transcribes what you said and adds punctuation and capitalization. It does not rewrite sentences, polish your phrasing, or "improve" your wording. Your voice stays yours. If you wanted a rewriter, you would buy a different product.
